Getting started

This walks you from signing in to a built playable, using the Tap to Win template: tap a coin five times and an end card with an install button appears.

1. Sign in

Open Studio and sign in with your email or Google account. You land on the dashboard: your projects on one side, New project on the other.

Closed beta

Studio is in closed beta. If you haven't got access yet, join the waiting list — you'll get an email when your seat is ready.

2. Create a project from a template

  1. Click New project.
  2. Pick Tap to Win, give it a name, and click Create project.

The project opens in a tab of its own. Each open project gets its own tab, and the dashboard stays in the first one.

Start from a brief instead

In Describe it to the AI you can type what you want, or drop a brief (PDF, Word, slides, screenshots). The new project opens with the AI already working on it. See Working with the AI.

3. Look around

  • Hierarchy (left) — the scene's entities. Click Coin to select it.
  • Scene (centre) — the scene itself. Drag the coin to move it; press W, E, R or T for the move, rotate, scale and rect tools.
  • Inspector (right) — the selected entity's components. The coin has a Sprite (its picture), a Button (so it can be tapped) and a UITransition.
  • Assets (bottom left) — the project's files. scripts/TapGame.ts is the game's logic.

There's a full tour in The editor.

4. Play it

Click Play (or press Ctrl+P). The Game view shows the playable as it will run: tap the coin five times and the end card pops in. Click Play again to stop — changes you made while playing are undone, so you can experiment freely.

5. Change something

Select the entity that holds the TapGame script and change Goal from 5 to 3 in the Inspector. Script fields marked with @property appear there; see Scripting to add your own.

Then double-click TapGame.ts in Assets to open it in the code editor. Edits are checked as you save (Ctrl+S), and the game picks them up straight away.

6. Build

Open File → Build… (Ctrl+B). The template has two build profiles:

  • Playable Ad — one package per ad network you tick. Fill in the App Store and Google Play links: they're where the install button sends players.
  • Web — a single HTML page.

Pick Playable Ad and click Build. Each network's package downloads when it's done, and the size report shows how big each one is against that network's cap. See Playable ads for what each network needs.
